Difference: $225 more by choosing Pay rent with points.
Paying rent with Bilt points (1.0¢) wins whenever you have a rent payment due and don't have upcoming travel. It's a simple, high-floor redemption: guaranteed 1.0¢ every month without needing award availability or transfer partners.
Cash back at 0.55¢ beats pay-rent only in theory — it never does in practice for most cardholders. The only case where cash-back is preferable: you've moved out of a Bilt-eligible property and no longer have rent to pay, leaving cash as the only quick exit.
Bilt points are best used for travel transfers (Hyatt, United, Air Canada) which regularly yield 1.5–3¢ per point. Both pay-rent and cash-back should be considered fallbacks when travel options aren't available. The Bilt Mastercard earns points only when you make at least 5 purchases per statement period.
